Welcome to the 2009 Turkey National Blog. This blog was established to follow the lives of all dedicated motocross riders at SCOTT USA and their pursuit of the highest achievement of sport for our office. the Turkey Race victory...
TURKEY NATIONAL EXPLAINED
Since 2004, employees of SCOTT USA have been making the annual trek to Boise Idaho for the "Turkey Race". This is an event held just prior to Thanksgiving, where the winners receive turkeys, rather than a traditional trophy. This event has become the proving ground for SCOTT employees and in most cases riders begin preparation up to six months in advance. The new two day format will separate the pussies from the real men. At least 20 SCOTT employees line up for one of the most heated battles in motocross history. Pride, glory, and SCOTT division (Bike, Wintersport, or Motocross) bragging rights are at stake for the entire following year.

SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS
We would like to give a special thanks to PBR for sponsoring our athletes with liquid courage. Keeping racers fueled and lowering inhibitions to "hold it wide" all day Sunday.
Sunday was exactly one week before the 2009 World Turkey National and a handful of competitors arrived at OMC to polish up, practice the sand corners and to size up office talent. A divisional points system has been formulated to prove once and for all, which division is king at SCOTT USA. But before the points system is unveiled, the following athletes have been seeded based on past results, current fitness, bike mods, natural talent and propensity to choke in competition.
SEED LIST:
1. Bob Lowry # 24
2. Silas Hesterberg # 829
3. Moses Mexia # 51
4. Dian Toussaint # 21
5. Adam Greene # 348
6. Mike Stevens # 545

10. Kevin Krruse # 314
11. Shane Kinman # 23
12. Joe Snyder # 60
13. Jason Conners # 220
Due to the tremendous amount of “divisional smack-talking” that has evolved from the Turkey Race, a points system has been put in place after approval from Turkey Race Team Director

GLOSBAND #44 SHOWS HIS LOVE FOR #2
Gabe Glosband, part time shit talker, part time rider takes matters into his own hands and comes to work in full Ginger attire for Halloween. We believe this is a direct impersonation of #2 himself.
The real question we are all asking ourselves is, will Gabe actually stop being a pussy and come to the Turkey National? Time will tell.
Emails circulating between BIKE division athletes have been screened by IT and pulled off the server. This hazardous and reckless display of poor sportsmanship is currently being reviewed by the "Turkey National Board of Directors" and may result in the immediate disqualification of the following athletes:
#829 Silas Hesterberg
#51 Moses Mexia
As seen in the email chain below, the two races conspired to infect the entire Motocross division leading up to the Turkey National. Deliberations will be disclosed shortly.

18 DAYS LEFT!
LATEST NEWS, UPDATES AND ACCOUNTS FROM THE FIELD.
With just over two weeks to go until judgement day, there are lots of new headlines in the world of the Turkey National Championship. Rumors of injuries, overtraining and even some potential forfeitures that would leave the 2008 division champions empty handed in 2009.
Here are updates:
Top Story-
Adrian Montgomery #2 tells the press "he will not even race if its the summer track."
Bob Lowry #24 has already submitted an entry to OMC registration for the Turkey Race as follows:
Industry class YZF450 #2 "DNF/PUSSY". This is already in the system and will be used if Adrian does not show up.
#51 Mexia and #829 Hesterberg are clearly upset over this potential mutiny. #51 says, "this would mean our hard earned title from 08 would just get thrown away. The trophy would likely sit behind Bob's desk for an entire year! I cant believe this shit..."
DANGUS #21 Tuning Up For Vet World Championships This Weekend
Straight out of the MX department, #21 will hone his abilities and attempt to achieve his peak for the 15th.
"This years goal is to stand at the top of the podium. Redemption and mostly just get mentally ready for thereal task at hand, to dominate on November 15th."
#21 is looking fast right now.
Kruse #314 Pumps His Balls Off.
"I've been pumping it everyday. Usually at lunch. Its an amazing arm workout and I cant see any possibility of getting arm pump at the Turkey Race. My arm has never been this strong."

Rumor Mill
There are some unproven reports that Bob Lowry #24 wadded a couple weeks ago and is nursing injuries. No statements have been made and it is unclear if it is true, but we do have one image that suggests something may have happened.MX Division Training Video

34 DAYS TO GO
With this years stakes being so high, the bike division made a decision to get out of the snow and freezing temperatures. There was only one thing to do, go to Maui and go jungle riding for 7 straight days to polish up on technical skills and fitness.

44 DAYS TO GO
Let the mind games begin. Bob Lowry #24 is now the official Turkey Race Flyer poster boy. Was this planned? Coincidence? Either way it required a large payoff to the OMC staff to get this kind of propaganda.

BOB LOWRY #24 SPEAKS OUT AGAINST THE CRITICS
Bob breaks his silence...
When accused of taking the safe route, avoiding racing in the Industry class, Bob had a few comments to dispute any allegations of being a puss.
"Hey little Boys “Bitches”.
If you remember, both Rodney and I signed up in the class and got booted by the referee.
They didn’t know Pete (the guy who won) so he was able to sign up in a lower class, and the industry race
Trust Me ,,, this won’t happen again. I will be on the line !!!"
Can this 51 year old stick it to the young VETS?
SECRET TRAINING AT THUNDER VALLEY WITH #314
I missed racing with all my friends on Saturday, but instead I logged some laps at thunder valley in CO, home of an ama national to try and practice for the big race. Thanks to my buddy Shaywill.com for the photos. Baby steps on the Fully 46 look back, so for now I am just looking over to the side...

IDAHO STATE MX CHAMPIONSHIP RACE REPORT
September 12th marked this years state championship. Some of the more dedicated SCOTT athletes took avantage of this great opportunity to tune up for Turkey hunting.
Temperatures were high in the low 90's with no shade. With entry fees being ridiculous, the crew stacked into two classes, Vet beg and Vet jr. As usual, Mexia #51 and Stevens #459 were accused of "sandbagging" again and would get hassled all day. When asked about his choice to race in Vet Jr, #51 responded "I dont care what Fullerton says, If I want to show up and kick some old slow ass, then that's what I do!". Some things never change. Here's how it went down:
Moto 1 Vet Jr holeshot photo
Mexia and Stevens got the holeshot and checked out quickly. Fullerton would make a strong charge to pull off third and Adrian worked his way up to 7th after suffering a bad start.
After Moto 1 there was some confusion as to "who" # 51 was. Mexia was placed in the womens 150cc class and received a DNF.
Moto 1 Vet Beg:
In Vet beg, Skinman got off to a good start rolling out of corner one in 4th, followed by Noah and Brandon.
Things wouldnt last though when #23 would decide to air out a cross rutted jump face and flew off the left side of the track. Straddling a berm and riding though the sagebrush would move Skinman back in the field, eventually placing 10th. Noah # 408 would continue to move forward, finishing in 5th.
Brandon kept it real, finishing 9th in front of Skinman.
During the intermission we checked in with #81 and got some tips. Apparently Scottie waddded hard last weekend and suffered another concussion... "This week I'm taking it easy, recovering a bit. But I'll be at the Turkey Race holding it wide"... Take it easy and get better #81.
The following post was removed due to girlfriend disaproval...
Moto 2 Vet jr.
In moto two, Fullerton pulled one of his typical starts and grabbed the wholeshot. Stevens and Mexia both choked and would be forced to work their way back up through the field. Adrian following close behind would battle for position.
Stevens moving quickly through the field would put a hard charge on Fullerton to make a pass for 4th but lost the front end and washed in a corner.
Making a long push to the front, Mexia #51 took the lead on the last lap and pulled a 1-1.
Vet Jr overall results:
Moto 2 Vet beg.
In a fairly dead even start, the crew got moving mid pack. Skinman would begin moving through the field, working his way up to 3rd when Noah #408 put on a hard charge.
Noah steadily applied pressure and would make the pass to rob Skinam of his podium spot in the 2009 State Championship. Brandon continued to hold strong in 6th for an overall 9

2008 ARCHIVE
Remembering the victories and agonizing defeats from the most prestigious event known to man.79 DAYS TO GO
Adrian gives us a speech... "One plus one equals two".
"There is no room for second place. There is only one place in my race, and that's first place. I finished seventh last year and I don't ever want to finish seventh again. There is a seventh place moto, but it is a moto for losers, raced by losers. It is and always has been an American zeal to be first in anything we do, and to win, and to win, and to win.
"Running a SCOTT division moto team is no different than running any other kind of organization - an army, a political party or a business. The principles are the same. The object is to win - to beat the other guy. Maybe that sounds hard or cruel. I don't think it is.
"It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive races draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there - to compete.
"And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline.
"I don't say these things because I believe in the 'brute' nature of man or that men must be brutalized to be combative. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour - his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear - is that moment when he has pulled the holeshot and won the Turkey Race. - victorious. One plus one equals two..."
THE TRAINING HAS STARTED
#314 Race report
“Last weekend was a little secret training for the ole Turkey Race. I felt better than ever on the bike and got a couple holeshots under my belt...1-3 on the day for second overall in Vet Beginner. Coach Webb was giving me some pointers and I am feeling good going into the Turkey Race. I need a couple more races and things should be good.”
I would like to thank my sponsors SCOTT USA cuz damn I was looking good out there, TWMX.com Kinman gave me the goods to beat his brother, Budweiser got me good and tuned up on the ride home, and last but def not least #81 for inspiring me to “Hold it Wide”.
BR #328 SHOWS US HIS SECRET REGIMENT"YOU MUST BE THE TRACK"
"Being the Turkey Race champion brings you glory, fame and money. The feeling is impossible to let go of and it quickly became clear there was only one way to maintain office dominance at the Turkey Race for a second year in a row. Get divorced, move to Boise and spend long hours meditating at the track... I usually put in two hours a day of meditation. "
"Feel the track. Use the track. Be the track..."
NEW ATHLETES
MX brings new talent to the table after placing second in the division championship in 2008. But will this new roster be able to over come BIKE?

MARKETING DEPT DYNAMICS
It is very difficult to hide secrets in the marketing department. These men work in tight quarters. There is no phone conversation or text message sent unnoticed. There have also been numerous squabbles between divisions (bike, wintersport, MX). Most notably would have been the "Baby Ginger" debacle that created angst for weeks...
Adrian has been stocking up on various supplies to wage war on Nov 14th and 15th. This just in from A.Greene # 348.
"Dude, Adrian has been receiving parts daily in prep for the T race and is making some big claims about being faster than he’s ever been and to look out."
BILLY RAY #328 STILL BITTERBill Ray shows there is still deep bitterness over his second place finish in 2008. This message received this morning, with instruction to "put on the blog"...
He is cross training furiously and would like to feel the sweet thrill of victory.
From BR:
I can’t believe you’re too big of a pussy to show up for the Banzai Super D race next week, Moses. (http://wildrockies.com/DH_mountain_biking/bogus_boise_banzai.php) The race is down a cross country trail; nothing compared to the super technical downhill races we used to do “back in the day”. And you’re not going to race because there are a couple little rain ruts that you’re scared of? I know what you’re really scared of…ME. You know I’ll crush you, and you’re shaking in your boots at the thought of that happening. This is only a prelude to the Turkey Race…you’re FUCKING TOAST!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uez73w634cE
